Delicious Day 6: Hot Chocolate

How could you possibly go through a cold, bitter winter without enjoying a steaming mug of hot chocolate now and then? I'm not talking about adding some Quick powder to some milk. I'm talking about actual chocolate. Hot chocolate.

Here's a really easy hot chocolate recipe from The Joy of Vegan Baking.

[Isn't my digital scale beautiful?]

6 oz (170g) chocolate (chips, bar, etc.)
2 cups soy milk (although I ended up adding more)
Granulated sugar, to taste (optional)

Put it all into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir, stir, stir with a whisk to try and get it frothy.

Try not to get distracted by GalaDarling.com and forget about it on the stove, leading it to almost boil over, like I did.

It was really thick and really intense, so I kept adding more soy milk. Maybe you can handle drinking something that thick and chocolatey, but I couldn't. It's really up to your taste to determine thickness, frothiness, and sugarness.

It's even better when you enjoy your hot chocolate out of a cute mug, like I did. And dress like a candy cane. ;)
